It’s been a wild ride

It’s been a wild few days here at work. We made a run a few days ago only to be held waiting for paperwork making the guys getting off on the 17th about six hours late for their crew change, we then left Fourchon for the rig also on the 17th. Go go go! All in all after the first two weeks of sitting we appear to be back on the normal pace of things here with our client. It means more DP days for me and thats just fine.
Working the back watch is a terrible sleep schedule, however it has its perks. While most of the world slept I got to follow the run down of the two bastards responsible for the attack at the Boston Marathon, live and in color. A combination of satellite TV and live news station twitter feeds on the internet kept the guy us up to date all the way till the conclusion of the chase. It is my only hope that we can squeeze some information out of the surviving suspect to give the predator pilots a few more targets this month.
We had a good cold front come through as we were finishing up the last few lifts at the rig. Over the course of about 20 minutes the wind clocked around almost 180 degrees and a 2-3 foot swell from the south became a 3-4 foot chop from the north. An hour and half later as we got the last lift and left the rig it was blowing 40kts out of the north with a 6-8ft swell. Nasty to say the least!
Our quick turnaround day on the 17th also happened to be my birthday, and well it’s just another day at work down here. Except for the fact that the therapist girlfriend sent me the most kick ass gift package ever. I’ll never complain about over the top again, I swear. Candy, magazines (including one with Kate Upton in a bikini in antarctica, you all know what I am talking about), and a collection of sweet and hilarious cards from both her and our bed warmer Kobe the black lab. She is far too good to me, and I’m not sure what I did to deserve her! Love you babe!
Yeah it’s been a wild ride so far, the last trip in, the last few days, and the last 24 years.

As always a few pictures, since i know thats what you all come here for!

Kickin’ up

At least the decks are clean
