Glutton for punishment (and a paycheck)

After two weeks of silence I am back. Currently sitting in the crew change lounge, planning on taking a nap in a little while here, crew change in the AM. I had a fantastic time off the boat starting with a five day trip to the Abaco’s in the northern Bahamas. I got to catch up with a lot of old family friends and get myself lost in all sorts of rum squalls. Not much has changed in the Abaco’s, things still move at an island pace however there are a few new places to visit of note. First is Firefly’s on elbow key, the first night I was there they had a fantastic local band that does Bob Marley and their own reggae. We partied into the wee hours of the morning and it was a blast.

The next place is a fantastic bar/resteruant/eco resort on Lubbers ran by Austin and Amy Smith. It is called Lubber’s Landing and you can find them online as well as on facebook. They have several beautiful cottages connected by a raised boardwalk to thier main building that has the resteraunt and bar. They have a long dock in front and can get you a discount on a boat rental. To top it all off their food is amazing, especially the Island and Conch Burgers, you certianly wont go hungry or thirsty there!

In additon to eating and drinking my way through the islands we did a little bit of water sports as well. Namely spear for lobsters and picking the odd conch
