Seasonal Taxes……..

I’ll admit……….winter is pretty miserable here in coastal New England. Lots of ice, biting cold winds, and driving wet snow. Though I’ve got to say it’s just the price to pay for long summer days on the water, crisp fall mornings, and sunny spring afternoons. I wouldn’t trade it for the world though; winter makes the rest of the reasons so much more special. No one appreciates summer like a New Englander, and that is a scientific fact! Well, ok maybe not a scientific fact, but in the same ball park. Working hard and partying harder is a contagious disease that spreads from Long Island to Down East Maine every year for a few special months. I would have to say that’s why we have winter, it gives New Englanders a chance to sleep, and as quite a few have said “winter is god’s way of letting sailors know what a hangover is like”. At the end of the day, winter is just paying our taxes, shoveling the walk for an afternoon sail.
