Well I’ve been quite for a little over two weeks, and I’ve really just been super busy. My time off was fantastic. I was home for thanksgiving and got to spend it with my little sister and mother in the afternoon, and my wonderful girlfriend and her family in the evening. I got a paddle in with the old coastal kayak educators crew, and then ran the fast electric rc boat some. All in all it was a time off that made me really grateful for everything I have in life. My family, a great partner in crime (and her black lab sidekick), and all the friends I got to reconnect with. Including those at my five year high school reunion. So near the end I wrapped up most of my Christmas shopping and hopped a plane, and here I am!
Things have been good since I got back. Made one couple day run already, have an extra captain who I have worked with before onboard, and we are loading barite for another run in the next couple days.
It hit me the last trip out how much I have come to enjoy the oil and gas industry. Do I want to work supply vessels the rest of my career? No, definitely not. However from here I can go a lot of places and I think I’d like to get into dive and subsea maintenance boats, still DP work but something a little more specialized.
One of my last days home we snapped a couple pictures of my electric race boat while we ran it with a new prop and drivetrain. Let’s just say she moves!
